    June 2008 Archives

During the 2008 General Assembly Session, several legislative changes were made impacting the real estate industry including changes to the Property Owners' Association (POA) Act, more clearly defined Automated Value Models, updates to the Wet Settlement Act, changes to listing and leasing disclosure and vested rights reform. The Virginia Association of REALTORĀ® has released a summary to help members understand those changes and ensure compliance with laws effective July 1, 2008.  For a copy of this reference tool, visit www.VARealtor.com/NewLaw08.

Wolf-003.jpgLast month, members of DAAR's Board of Directors and Government and Political Affairs Committee attended an exclusive REALTORĀ®-only Meet and Greet with Congressman Frank Wolf at Long and Foster Real Esate in Sterling. NAR Federal Politica  l Coordinator for Wolf's office and former DAAR Chair Gwen Pangle sponsored the event along with DAAR and the REALTORSĀ® Political Action Committee. Members had the opportunity to explore key public policy issues related to real estate. Congressman Wolf has been a strong advocate for real estate issues on the Federal level, such as increasing the FHA loan limits, as well as the local level where has fought for funding for Dulles Rail and decreasing the toll rates on the Dulles Greenway.
