    December 2008 Archives

In early December 2008, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved an allocation of up to $3 million to be used for the hard costs of providing affordable, workforce housing to Loudoun's citizens and workers.  Those involved in the construction and renovation of affordable, workforce housing, including non-profit housing developers and 501(c)3's (faith based and others), are invited to submit an application for funding available from Loudoun County's Housing Funds.
GreenBuildings.jpgAlthough environmentally-friendly building and design has been around for decades, it is becoming mainstream in many areas including Northern Virginia. Growing consumer interest in green residential and commercial technologies for health benefits, energy-cost savings and overall commitment to improving the environment in which they live appears to be on the rise. If you view "green" or environmentally sensitive development as an important new niche for real estate and would like to help DAAR develop a program designed to raise awareness and increase member resources on green issues, please contact Christine Windle, Director of Government Affairs, 703/727-2144 to join DAAR's Work Group on Green Buildings today!  The first meeting will take place in January 2009.
