    The Loudoun County Board of supervisors (LCBOS) is moving forward with a proposal to implement the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act this year. The amendments require that property owners protect perennial streams and non-tidal wetlands contiguous to other water bodies by imposing a 100-foot management buffer or setback from all bodies of water.
    On Wednesday, February 17th, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted to enact the Limestone Overlay District which alters the way property owners use their land on over 14,000 areas north and south of Leesburg.  Don't miss out on important information regarding how the new regulations affect land use and notices in deeds, site plans, tax and subdivision records.
    Experts from the Washington Airports Task Force and Loudoun County Zoning teamed up to provide members with an excellent presentation on land use compatibility near the Dulles airport this month.  Anita Kayser, Director, Washington Airports Task Force, and Mark Stulz, Loudoun County Zoning, discussed the Homebuyers Guide to Compatible Land Use Around Dulles Airport, Airport Impact Overlay District disclosure and awareness tools for homebuyers and property owners. Speakers include John McClain, Senior Fellow, George Mason University's Center for Regional Analysis, Greg Stratton, Research Economist, National Association of REALTORS® and Rosemary deButts, DAAR's Housing Market Consultant.  Registration fee ($20 for members/$25 for non-members) includes breakfast.   Sign-up today!

    DAAR hosted a symposium with banks and REALTORS® on Monday, July 27th to foster a greater understanding of the mortgage options for troubled homeowners and challenges arising from complicated real property transactions such as short sales.  Moderated by Gwen Pangle, Principal Broker of 1757 Real Estate and NAR's Federal Political Coordinator for Congressman Frank Wolf (VA-10), the event featured Congressman Wolf, officials from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and representatives from Bank of America and the Virginia Mortgage Lenders Association.

    For the seventheen year, the Dulles Area Association of REALTORS® sponsored an annual golf tournament benefiting the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and Habitat for Humanity in Loudoun County. Nearly 100 DAAR members, guests and affiliates gathered at the Loudoun Golf and Country Club in Purcellville on Monday, June 8h.  The course is one of the most beautiful and scenic in the area.

    Pig.jpgOne of DAAR's Executive Committee members will plant a big sloppy one on a pig during this summer at a soon-to-be-announced special event and you get to decide which one! DAAR is sponsoring the first ever Kiss the Pig (KTP) contest benefiting the REALTORS® Political Action Committee.  Members will "vote" by making a contribution to RPAC and placing it in their "favorite" executive committee member's jar at the DAAR office and at Broker Open events in the area.  If you are interested in promoting your next Broker's Open by hosting the RPAC KTP contact Christine Windle at 703/727-2144.  Your Broker's Open will be posted on www.dullesarea.com and publicized to the membership.
