    January 2009 Archives

GE Security has released a new version of the ActiveKEY PCSync software which should be downloaded by all ActiveKEY users.  This latest version ensures continued reliable connectivity with the latest version of ActiveKEY firmware (v1.9).

If you would like to update your ActiveKEY using your computer's Internet connection, you must download and install the ActiveKEY software onto your computer. If you have a previous version of the ActiveKEY software installed, you must install the current version before you can update your ActiveKEY through your computer.

    1.  To get into the SentriLock lockboxes, you will need a SentriCard key from one of the associations that is converting to that system (NVAR, PWAR or GPAAR).

    2.  A key from any one of these associations will open the other associations' lockboxes.  For example, a key from PWAR will open NVAR and GPAAR lockboxes and vice-versa.  You do not need multiple SentriLock keys.

    4.  DAAR members also have the option of going to PWAR, GPAAR, or NVAR offices to get their key and SentriLock lockboxes. Please click here to dowload a matrix identifying the costs associated with purchasing key-only memberships from these and other associations.

During the DAAR ActiveKEY conversion, members were permitted to keep their Supra Display Key (a.k.a. D-key) until January 30th, 2009 so they can continue to access gray lockboxes.  As you know, the gray lockboxes will be obsolete after neighboring associations converted to the Sentirlock system in mid-January.  If you chose to retain your D-Key, you must return it to the DAAR Leesburg office by January 30th, 2009 in order to avoid a $150 key fee.

Joining a DAAR Committee has always been a great way to make new contacts, learn about the new trends in the industry, and have a hand in shaping the Association's direction. As we welcome the new year, DAAR would greatly benefit from your ideas, insight, and support in an effort to make us as responsive as possible to our membership.  If you'd like to get more involved with DAAR by participating on a committee or simply have some great ideas you'd like to see implemented, please visit "Join Committee" and email any of the DAAR Committee Liaisons on that page.   Committee work can be rewarding and a great source of networking.  Please give it a chance this year.  Thank you in advance for your consideration.

If you have not upgraded to the Active Key we encourage you to wait until the end of the month, during the week of January 26th.  It will not cost you any additional money to wait, and you will be able to accomplish the return of your dKey and the upgrade to the Active Key all at one time.  Due to the NVAR conversions we are short staffed at the DAAR office and may not be able to accommodate you in a timely manner.  As an added incentive, we have negotiated with Supra a waiver of the $50 activation fee until the 30th of January.  You will still have to pay the $50 conversion fee to DAAR, but you will save the additional Supra fee of $50.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation as we struggle through the difficult situation.
