    October 2009 Archives

The donations are rolling in, and there are some great items to be had -- just in time for the winter holidays.  We have too many items to list them all, but here is just a sneak peak at a few:
Saturday is not only Halloween.  It's also the end of Daylight Savings Time.  Don't forget to turn back your clocks one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.  The time change is also a good time to change the batteries in smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, etc.

This is the last week to purchase tickets to the 18th Annual DAAR Charity Auction and Dinner before the ticket price goes up. Tickets purchased by October 30th cost just $65/person. That price gets you two cocktails, a steak dinner (vegetarian entrees available upon prior request), wine with dinner, dessert, and a really fun time. There will be plenty of opportunity to get some really great deals just in time for the winter holidays at both the silent auction and the live auction.
We've been notified by NVAR that there is a known issue with how Windows 7 detects smartcards, including the SentriLock keycard.  SentriCard users who plan to to use Windows 7 should read the Windows 7 Technical Notice.

Back by popular demand is the Affiliate Committee's annual vineyard outing.  This year the committee will be hosting their event at the new Dry Mill Vineyards in Leesburg on October 22nd from 5 to 7:30 p.m.  The event is open to REALTOR(R) members free-of-charge.  Attendees will receive tickets for two free glasses of wine.  Hors d'Oeuvres will be provided, and Dave Pepper will provide music.

What happened to Fall?  It seems like we skipped right over to winter weather.  Hopefully all this chilly weather is getting you in the mood to take advantage of some great deals at the 18th Annual DAAR Charity Auction and Dinner just in time for the winter holidays.

DAAR published September's existing home sale indicators in

Loudoun County this week.  The monthly report reflects a healthy market with increasing stability. Loudoun continues to suffer from too little supply.  Following seven consecutive months of declines, the number of active listings declined again in September 2009 reaching a longtime low of 1,204 units as of October 1st.  Compared to the same month in previous years, the number of active listings in September was down 57% from 2008, -67.9% below 2007 and 71.1% below the total in 2006.  In the last six months the month-over-the-year decline has ranged between 56% and 60% indicating a sustained level of market constraint.
