We want to make sure we always have enough food and drink for our Networking Matters.  On the other hand, we hate to buy a bunch of stuff that we just end up throwing away because it won't keep until the following month.  So, we need your help to accurately calculate how much to buy.  How can you help?  By letting us know that you intend to come by pre-registering online.

To that end, anyone who pre-registers for a Networking Matters will benefit from the $5 pre-registration price.  Registrations done the day of the event and walk-ins will cost $10.  Or you can avoid all this hassle but taking advantage of our Buy 8/Get 1 FREE special, and I'll do all the work to pre-register you.  And, if you can't make it one month, no worries since you get one month free.

The next Networking Matters is on Thursday, February 4th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the DAAR office.  Many thanks to our February sponsor:  Go2Guys Home Services.

Thanks to DAAR's generous membership, the Community Services Committee will be distributing funds raised at the very successful 18th Annual Charity Auction and Dinner.  Members are welcome to attend the check distribution ceremony which will be held at the DAAR office on Wednesday, January 6th at 4 p.m.

Once again, DAAR's REALTOR® and Affiliate members have demonstrated their generosity at the Annual Charity Auction and Dinner to benefit local shelter-related charities.  We're still waiting to subtract all the costs, but preliminary results put the net proceeds over $30,000 again this year.
Tickets to tonight's 18th Annual Charity Auction and Dinner are sold out.  We have arranged with River Creek Country Club to allow for up to 10 walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.  Walk-in tickets will be $85.
The donations are rolling in, and there are some great items to be had -- just in time for the winter holidays.  We have too many items to list them all, but here is just a sneak peak at a few:

This is the last week to purchase tickets to the 18th Annual DAAR Charity Auction and Dinner before the ticket price goes up. Tickets purchased by October 30th cost just $65/person. That price gets you two cocktails, a steak dinner (vegetarian entrees available upon prior request), wine with dinner, dessert, and a really fun time. There will be plenty of opportunity to get some really great deals just in time for the winter holidays at both the silent auction and the live auction.

What happened to Fall?  It seems like we skipped right over to winter weather.  Hopefully all this chilly weather is getting you in the mood to take advantage of some great deals at the 18th Annual DAAR Charity Auction and Dinner just in time for the winter holidays.

communityserviceslogo.jpgFor the eighteenth consecutive year, DAAR will sponsor a charity auction and dinner to raise funds and help local charities in Loudoun County.  Last year, more than $32,000 was raised and donated to local shelter-based charities. Rebuilding Together/Christmas in April, Good Shepherd Alliance, Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter-Children's Services, Loudoun Cares, Loudoun Families for Children, Volunteers of American Emergency Shelter, and Volunteers of America-Transitional Housing Shelter received 100% of the proceeds from last year's event.

...at this year's Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) project.  A total of 28 volunteers showed up to the house on South King Street in Leesburg on Saturday, April 25th despite the August-like heat.  Given all the outdoor painting planned for the day, the weather was nearly perfect.

All-in-all, the homeowners received a fresh coat of paint on both the house and the standalone garage, tree trimming, yard cleanup, roof repairs, and new cieling tiles, stair tread and a repaired hand rail.

Keep reading to see a list of volunteers and sponsors and to link to photos from the day.

For the seventeenth consecutive year, DAAR will sponsor a Loudoun County Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April, Inc.) project to help an area family make improvements to their home.  More than 40 volunteers will donate one day to make a difference in the life of a local family. REALTORS®, lenders, title company representatives and contractors may paint, make repairs, clean up or landscape a home in Loudoun County. Local area businesses donate the supplies needed to do the work.
