    Recently in Lockboxes

A brand new year is almost upon us.  With it comes an opportunity to re-organize and refresh, to  re-energize business, and to prepare for the impending market rebound.

"Preparing for the Market Rebound" is DAAR's theme for January.  You will find this theme reflected in the January Lunch Matters and Networking Matters classes, special offers in the DAAR store, and in posts to the DAAR website.  More specifically:

    November 5, 2009        comment now

We have been informed by NVAR that bills to renew your non-member SentriCard key agreement will be going out in late November or early December.  The 2010 non-member renewal fee will be $130 + tax and will be due by January 17th.

Agents who do not have a SentriCard key and choose to get one after January 1st will pay $130 + tax, plus a one-time key activation fee of $75.  NVAR does not pro-rate their key charges, so the price will be the same whether you get the key on January 1 or December 31.

We've been notified by NVAR that there is a known issue with how Windows 7 detects smartcards, including the SentriLock keycard.  SentriCard users who plan to to use Windows 7 should read the Windows 7 Technical Notice.

There has been some recent confusion over the number of times an agent can update their SentriCard lockbox key without running it through the card reader.  DAAR has received confirmation from NVAR that their policy is to allow no more than two updates in a row away from the card reader (i.e. at a lockbox or by calling SentriLock) and no more than three total in a month.

Overnight on Sunday, September 13th, GE Supra will "flash" the firmware of all ActiveKEYs issued by DAAR.  Doing so will update the keys' firmware to take advantage of several improvements to how the keys manage their battery life.  You won't need to do anything to receive this new firmware, as long as your key is charged and the radio is turned on.

Members who have not paid their annual DAAR dues have been suspended.  Membership suspension means:

    • Member's lockbox key(s) will not update or operate
    • Member will no longer be able to participate in DAAR events
    • Member will no longer receive DAAR communications (e.g. weekly newsletter, notice of important meetings and upcoming events, etc.)

Additionally, brokers may be charged a non-member fee equivalent to the agent's membership fee for any agents in their office that are not a member of an association.

Members may reinstate their membership by paying their dues and the reinstatement fee (online, by mail, or by calling the DAAR office at 703.777.2468).

There is much confusion out there regarding how we got to where we are with a dual lock box system.  In an effort to help clarify things, the Board of Directors has authorized the following letter mailed to all DAAR Principal and Managing Brokers and posted on our web site for all to review.  We know this won't solve the problem, but we hope it will make everyone understand how this all transpired.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to read our thoughts.    LettertoAgents.pdf

Non-members are able to purchase key-only memberships to DAAR at our office located at 803 Sycolin Road, #222, Leesburg, VA.  Due to the high demand in ActiveKEYs, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment by calling 703/777-2468.  The average appointment time is 15-20 minutes. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee service for drop-ins.  For more information on the costs associated with key-only memberships, please

GE Security has released a new version of the ActiveKEY PCSync software which should be downloaded by all ActiveKEY users.  This latest version ensures continued reliable connectivity with the latest version of ActiveKEY firmware (v1.9).

If you would like to update your ActiveKEY using your computer's Internet connection, you must download and install the ActiveKEY software onto your computer. If you have a previous version of the ActiveKEY software installed, you must install the current version before you can update your ActiveKEY through your computer.

    1.  To get into the SentriLock lockboxes, you will need a SentriCard key from one of the associations that is converting to that system (NVAR, PWAR or GPAAR).

    2.  A key from any one of these associations will open the other associations' lockboxes.  For example, a key from PWAR will open NVAR and GPAAR lockboxes and vice-versa.  You do not need multiple SentriLock keys.

    4.  DAAR members also have the option of going to PWAR, GPAAR, or NVAR offices to get their key and SentriLock lockboxes. Please click here to dowload a matrix identifying the costs associated with purchasing key-only memberships from these and other associations.
